I just bought this and have not used it, but it looks really cool. It is all black, it says Epson on it. it came with a cord, with the old samsung looking charger end and the other end with a USB on it. I now own a new black Baggie tie from the cord and the awesome clear bag about 1.5"X3" and I blew it up and popped it scaring the holy crud out of my cat which turned around and clawed me. I deserved it my wife said. I am sure this is going to be fine for putting in pictures and receipts or else I would not have bought it.

I would purchase again

I used to have a HP scanner-printer which was bulky. It was for personal use at home. The ink dried up quickly. I ended up just using the scanner portion of it. Eventually it died up on me. I am glad I discovered this EpsonV39 scanner. It works so well, light and portable, and produces good scans of photos and documents. It is also fast. I love it!

Great Scanner

I bought this scanner to scan old photos of my parents and grandparents. Some are from as early as 1901!! The quality of the scan is amazing. Some pictures I can see features and people I could not see in the faded originals.  The editing program clarifies even more. I always refer to myself as tech challenged but this scanner is so easy to set up and use. I have already recommended it to multiple friends.

Amazing quality scanning pictures!

Great scanner for the price.  Easy to set up, light weight and fits in a drawer when not in use.  Excellent resolution.  No automatic feeder means no paper jams!  Love it!

Great scanner!

I bought this scanner to start the process of digitizing all of my old family photos.  The software and scanner are both easy to use and produce great results. My only issue has been an error message that pops up every now and then about a communication error, but unplugging the device and plugging it back in helps solve this. Considering the many hours straight I have used this, it's a great buy for the price!

Very pleased with the longevity and clear results

I had no trouble installing the software included with the Scanner on a new Mac Pro computer.  In my case I had to purchase an adapter cable to provide power to the scanner USB port because Apple's newer computers no longer have USB connections.  The scanner worked as advertised.  The scanner is easily portable and requires no power except that provided by the attached computer.  It is an excellent choice for scanning information into a laptop computer.

Epson V39 Scanner

I was disappointed in the packing and the opened box that was sent.  The bottom of the box was torn open in two places, probably to view the scanner.  The top of the box still had the sealed tape on it.  I checked the contents and all seemed to be there and the scanner works fine.  However upon writing this review a couple weeks after purchasing and checking out the scanner I see that it has been reduced again from the $84 I paid for it to $69.99. In the back of my mind I wonder if this was a returned item and used before. I don't know if I will purchase electronics from Walmart again.

Poor Packaging Opened Scanner Box Received

All I needed was a scanner, and I thought this one would be perfect. ($30 more than a scanner and printer combined, which is funny.) But it kept hanging up on installation, would never let me get past that and never gave me an error message. Very frustrating.

Couldn't get software to install

It's somehow super simple and yet super frustrating. First off, there are barely any manual settings. It does what it wants. The few there are don't work. Dust removal? Nothing. It also crops your photos, which sometimes is nice -and sometimes it cuts off things.  Also, it closes out of itself every single time. So every single photo you have to reopen it. Second issue: it only does well with newer photos or glossy prints. Anything on textured paper, it zooms in on the texture as shown. Third, it quit working on day 2. I can't seem to fix it at all. Freezing, disconnecting. I tried updating it from the Epson support page, but it's so outdated, that didn't help. Thank goodness WM lets you return.

So many negatives.
