Thank you for your question, Lee! This collar is intended to detect and correct your dog's average bark. Whining, howling, or similar behaviors will not typically cause enough vibration in the throat for this collar to detect and correct.

This is a wonderful question! This collar is designed to activate with your pet's bark. It will not activate when your pup is whining. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

What about if your dog keeps whining will it help stop it

Thank you for your great question. You access the battery cover for this bark collar underneath the nylon strap. You can pop open the cover and change the battery.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always been hesitant to try bark collars. I never want to inflict any kind of pain on my pups.  I hesitantly gave this a shot one afternoon. I am happy to say that it worked, and my little guy did not seem the least bit uncomfortable!
I'd still probably only use it when someone was home for a while, just to monitor how it works over a longer period of time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Pittie Dora is a very well-behaved girl, except when out in the yard.  If she sees or hears anything, she starts her barking.  I truly believe she's having FOMO, lol! So I put the collar on her when she has free roam in the backyard.  It has worked wonders for us! I have it set to a little under halfway because I was a little nervous at first.  But all it takes is that initial shock, and she stops! It absolutely does not hurt her, it just gives her a little fright! So need less to say, our neighbors are very happy! I will say, the only downside is the collars ability to hold onto smells! It gets so stinky, and I can't seem to get the smell out! I think we can deal with it if it keeps everyone happy, including Miss. Dora!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It can get annoying at night when your trying to sleep when you have a dog that wants to bark at everything including a car driving by. I've been woken up several times at it. It's also annoying when you have company over and that all they want to do is bark. This helps them keep their bark at minimum since it sends a vibration over to them with every bark. I don't recommend using it at all times because there can be times where their barking is beneficial!

The collar senses sound vibration and release static. It dose not have a clip for a leash. I wish it had that.

It has simple controls and is easy to turn on and off. My main issue is it comes with a non standard size battery which will make maintenance annoying. It works well even off my dog is quiet. 😂
