This phone was exactly what I needed for my Dad he has trouble hearing the phone ring! He also has a hard time dialing the small buttons on a regular phone. The pictures help when he calls his daughters. This phone helps him keep his independence. It also gives me more peace of mind knowing he can call me on his first try.

Great loud ring

Bought it for my 95 year old dad that had problems dialing the previous phone with smaller buttons. With the larger, programmable buttons its now easy and don't get the wrong number. He's happy and more relaxed :)

Excellent

The phone has many positives....large number pads are wonderful, the slide that allows you to add the amount of clarity needed for the caller's voice is great, and it was easy to install. Purchased for my mom who is having trouble hearing the phone ring, especially when she has the television on. Would have like more volume selections for the ringer or a slide like it had for the caller's clarity to adjust ring to louder volume than the two levels provided.

Phone sound was good (with adjustable volumes).

Photo placement availability is great option.

Big buttons good for the elderly who have a hard time focusing on one small button with their fingers.

Down side was as soon as phone was removed from the box and the sliding buttons at the bottom of the phone were adjusted the caps fell off. Sliding toggle could still be used without top caps but I ended up super-gluing them both on. I do not know how long that will hold up.

Overall it works good for now (have had for 2 weeks but usage on phone is small).

Good but has flaws

This is a nice phone that is quite easy to use for both the hearing and sight impaired user, especially if they are getting up in the years. The picture buttons were our main reason for the purchase as the intended user is also in the early stages of age related dementia. On many similar phones you first have to push a speed dial button before you depress the picture, on this one not so, you simply touch the picture of the person you wish to speak to and it dials the number. It can get nice and loud if you turn it all the way up, and the ringer sound is loud and adjustable too. I really liked the fact that it is powered by the phone line and no outlet or electrical cord was required.

Here are my only two comments that are not glowing recommendations....First, be aware that there is no speaker phone type use on this device, you must use the handset (receiver). And second, it does not remember and hold the amplified volume from call to call. For each and every call, if you need the sound turned up the user must press another button. This is not an issue for the sight or hearing impaired, but it may be for those with memory loss.

Great for both hearing and sight impaired, but...

The phone has nice big buttons,  which my partially blind mother can see. However, the phone came with no cord to attach to wall outlet. Very annoying and cheap!  Also it has a background buzz which is annoying but mother cannot hear - so it is ok for her.

Big button phone

Bought the Clarity phone for my parents, because of the feature of the picture touch memory aspect.  I had great expectation since they have another Clarity model at home.
I found this version does not have enough boosting for them to hear well.
I guess it's OK if you have a slight diminish hearing problem.
Also, I tried to plug in a hearing and mic device and find that there is an echo that is created when it's plugged in. Not impressed :-(

Buttons are not smooth to push. Quality of sound is not very high, sort of echoey.

Medium quality

I purchased this phone for my 96 year old father. I wanted a phone that would have easy to read numbers in low light rooms, and based on the picture, expected white numbers on black keys. However, I discovered this phone has gray numbers (the color of the gray at the bottom of the phone) on dark gray keys and therefore does not provide the contrast he needs. The phone is not as it appears on the box. (See picture attached. I laid a white handset next to it for comparison.) At this time he is still capable of dialing numbers and the one-touch set up is something I wanted for the future, but I can get that with other phones. I'm returning this phone because the numbers do not stand out well. Also, the ringer is harsh, even on low or when adjusting the tone, and would be best suited for nearly deaf people, or those living in a large home where the person may be far away from the phone when it rings.

My 95 year old mother likes this phone & finds it easy to use. She can turn up the volume of the ringer & the sound. Preprogrammed photo buttons are very helpful for dialing. Sadly the phone is poor quality & doesn't last long. Hopefully this one will last longer than her 2 previous ones.
