Thank you for the question. These speakers are not wireless and required to be connected to an receiver or amplifier. The power requirements are 10-200 W per channel, 4-8 ohms.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an old set of outdoor speakers that I thought sounded great until I installed the BOSE 251s. The old outdoor speakers used to be powered by my old receiver/amplifier, but I replaced the receiver with the BOSE Soundtouch SA-5 Amplifier, and the 251s were the next logical upgrade. The music fills the deck and backyard with beautiful claer sound.  I am very happy with the 251s combined with the SA-5 Amplifier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These speakers are amazing, I live in Nebraska and have had ice hanging on them.  And they work just like the first day I installed them.  Great sound and have no problem turning them up with my old ipod that has plenty of music download on it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I researched outdoor speakers and went to many stores to listen to many different brand names (B & W, B&O, etc.) These are not only the best for what I needed, but the sound and integration is amazing. I have to admit I'm a Bose fan, but have had other speakers and headphones and none have been able to contend with Bose products. 

The SA-5 amplifier was easy to set up and is easy to use. The app works well with the system and other SoundTouch speakers. I definitely recommend this set up. The highs are crisp and the lows are just enough without being overbearing.

Better than I thought

The Bose 251 speakers are excellent for either in home use or outside use. I am using them as computer speakers in conjunction with a small separate amplifier, and the detail in the highs is amazing. These speakers employ a special design with respect to the tweeters, which ensures that you can hear the highs well even if you move your listening location. The bass is tight and clear.
You won't be disappointed.

Bose 251 lives up to its reputation.  Good ol' wired speakers that produce that AMAZING sound that Bose is known for.  I have used these for my indoor fitness studio and they are more than enough.  If you are in the market for outdoor speakers these are the ones, don't hesitate!

Amazing

I hooked these up a couple of weeks ago the sound quality is amazing. Definitely loud enough on my 16x40 deck. I just wish I didn't have to buy a receiver/amplifier separately to go with them but was very easy to install the whole system. Definitely worth it in the long run

Excellent sound quality

bought these from the Bose store in Williamsburg. Ive always had Bose speakers throughout my life due to a family with musical backgrounds and the need for precise sounds. I was skeptical at first. I didn't think these would sound great outside. I gambled and it paid off. I installed them about 10' apart just underneath the soffit to help protect against rain. These speakers sound absolutely AMAZING!. I hooked them up to a old Kenwood receiver. Our backyard is 165' long and 85' wide. Turning the volume to 2 and you can have crisp clear sound and hold a conversation with someone 50' away. I turned it to 4 and it was even more amazing of the sound all the way to the back of our property. I then tried 6 and I feel like im at a rock show. I think where they are mounted helps as well. Thinking the sound bounces off the siding and reflects towards me helps . I thought I was going to need 2 pair but this 1 pair is plenty. Bose knows they have a great product. This is why the design hasn't changed in years. Trust me, as a 30 year musician , these are what you need for your backyard.

These speakers are the TRUTH!

Installed last week and in under an hour with sa5.    Very noticeable improvement over my Bose Bluetooth speaker.   The stereo sound blows it away and no more worrying about charge levels.   It's great to relax on my deck with a cocktail and since I have the sound touch 20 in my kitchen I can refresh my drink wiyhout a break in the music.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this speakers 251 and the SA-5 but the sound quality for me is far from my expectations the bass is almost not present for the rest I can say is ok.

Poor Bass

They sound “tinny” compared to our Sonos'. Returning them and paying more for the Adonis.
