Can be used flat. The leg at the back folds right under. Doesn't feel too much effort to pull back though.

Gravity does most of the work. No resistance on the way down.

When you have the machine in the flat position the machine is level and the seat is level to the ground at all times, so you have to pull yourself back. I am assuming when it is in the raised position then it would pull you back but I haven't tried it raised up yet as I am just a newbie to rowing and not ready for that yet.

Is the angle on the track for the seat level?

Hi MJ, the rowing arms can be pulled straight back if ROM is an issue.

You can do whatever with your arms. Sometimes I hold them extended and just work my legs for a bit.
It mimics the action of raising oars out of the water, which you don&#39;t really need to do, but it mixes up your actions a a bit.

Do you have to use the full range of motion with the arm bars or can you just pull them toward? After 5 shoulder surgeries ROM may be a problem.

Read mostly good reviews on this product and it didn't disappoint. Assembled in about an hour, very easy instructions but would recommend using a socket set. Motion is very fluid and definitely works the core, back, shoulders and biceps. Even the lowest resistance is challenging for a beginner. I'm about 6'1" and 205 and have no issues with comfort. Only negative was the digital computer doesn't work, but I time my workouts anyway.

Met expectations

I love mine, although it was missing some bolts, I had to get from the hardware store... No big deal! I absolutely love it! I haven't worked out in years so this was the thing for me, I set the resistance and then push on!! I would have gotten this sooner had I seen it!!! Once again I just love it!
